Public Health

We are committed to making significant improvements in public health and reducing health inequalities in our County. We want Hertfordshire residents to have the opportunity to live as healthy lives as possible and to live safely in their communities. Some of the County’s residents are significantly less healthy than others. We recognise the considerable effect that remaining healthy has on the happiness and life chances of our residents.

These are some of the improvements we want to see:

  • A reduction in the number of people who smoke or have problems with alcohol or illegal drugs
  • Reduced levels of unhealthy weight, through encouraging active healthy lifestyles across all age groups including participation in sport
  • Greater take up of preventative health services, such as health checks and vaccinations
  • Those suffering from long term conditions receiving appropriate advice and having the opportunity to have their needs met locally

If you would like to support us in achieving these aims, we have listed some of the types of specialist and professional roles we recruit to within our expanding Public Health Teams:

  • Stop Smoking Advisors
  • Sexual Health Advisors
  • Public Health Registrars/Administrators
